The Connections at Pathways Summit New Jersey
May, 2018 through August 2018, The Connections at Pathways hosted Visions of Hope. This was one of the only venues where most of the participants knew each other. This group of participants help educate healthcare providers and others on how to handle the emotional side when telling a new patient, that they have cancer. They help to remind the providers that each patient hearing they have cancer is all new to that individual.
Although, I am a survivor, I am continuously given insight to the mettle of those who are fierce, adamant and brave while still battling their cancer journeys. Those are the same ones are writing another chapter in their lives, by wanting to be present at the opening to share in the electric and inspiring evening.
I am very thankful for the inspiring words shared by several participants of Visions of Hope, Peggy Salisbury, Lesley Andrews and Rene Matatia-Slater, they shared what gave them the strength, hope and beliefs while battling through their dark ordeal.
Each participant resonates with the other as they start to share their journey with me, but as they become more comfortable in the ongoing interview, they have their personal twist and turns. I notice how each person seems to come back to either their family, friends or healthcare providers giving them support and HOPE to cling to while going their journey.
Again, thank you so much Lesley Andrews of the Connections at Pathways for giving Visions of Hope an place to inspire others by helping in organizing this amazing event.
